For those of you who don't know what or who Doctor Who is (where have you been for the last forty years?), Doctor Who is a British science fiction TV programme produced by the BBC in the UK. The programme follows the adventures of a mysterious eccentric Time Lord known as the Doctor, who travels through time and space in his time machine, the TARDIS, which normally appears as a blue 1950s British police box. With friends, he explores time and space, faces a variety of foes and saves civilizations, helping people and righting wrongs.

So what is Doctor Who Fan?

Doctor Who Fan services the BBC's commercial arm, BBC Worldwide, by delivering a website that captures users information whilst they enter their details to win exclusively signed Doctor Who merchandise. BBC staff are able to retrieve all data via a bespoke CMS system built in php using an SQL database.

BBC Worldwide is the commercial arm and a wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC. Their main purpose is to maximise the value of the BBC's assets for the benefit of us, the licence fee payer by creating, acquiring, developing and exploiting media content / brands around the world.

Did you know?

Doctor Who is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world and as the most successful science fiction series ever, in terms of its overall broadcast ratings, DVD and book sales, iTunes traffic, and illegal downloads.

And did you also know, (and this is much more relevant now) that current Doctor Who, Matt Smith is a former pupil of Northampton School for Boys! Just down the road from Brave Creative Northampton Studio.
