Social Media Services are exploding at the moment and we all need to grab it firmly with both hands.
Bet you didn’t know that Search Engines can’t help but notice the amount of followers you might have, so the more the better. So, it makes sense, increasing the number of followers is key and should be your main objective when using Twitter. Once your followers start clicking your links, this starts to get noticed by Search Engines and other engines that monitor site traffic.
How do I use Twitter for SEO gain?
Let us simplify this for you.
Twitter Profile:
You’ll really need to try and choose a username which ranks well with your profile, try not to choose an obscure one which has no relation to your profile. Make the bio simple, crisp and relevant so it can get noticed by humans and Search Engines.
Tweet…:
What you tweet about is the most important thing about tweeting. Do it regularly but don’t over do it as you will annoy your followers as well. Just like people, Search Engines also don’t really enjooy the idea of tweeting just for Marketing purposes only as we have noticed that Google can take regular tweeting as spam sometimes, so just tweet regularly and mix it up a bit, be useful, be a voice people can count on, be interesting, but don’t just sell, sell, sell all the time.
Hash Tags Anyone?:
Your keywords that precede by a hash tag (#) are there to help get your tweet a place in Twitters real time search engine as well as google search. Example, if your profile says your a website design agency from #websitedesignPeterborough this is better than just #websitedesign in most cases.
Retweet, spread the word:
Really get the hang of re-tweeting as its so valuable to your own subject (as long as it is) and your followers, as they should be following you due to what you have to say recommend etc. Use widely searched terms in your tweets and try tweeting unique and interesting facts which relate to you, your website, your subject and popular topics. Useful links in re-tweets are also great and can enhance your profile’s stature. Also recommend your follow (FollowFriday recommendation):
What is FollowFriday?
Follow Friday, or #followfriday as it is more normally referenced to as a Twitter trend that sees users recommend a friend or an interesting person to all of their followers. its another way of retweeting but putting more focus on it. All you have to do is place #followfriday in your tweet.
